Something you did not plan to buy is 40 percent off. Is that a saving or a new expense wearing a nice label? I like the test of asking whether I would still want it tomorrow without the countdown timer. What helps you ignore a convincing sale banner?

The expensive part of a busy evening is sometimes deciding that nothing at home sounds easy. What meal is cheap, reheats well, and still sounds appealing after a long day? Bonus points for something that does not require buying ten ingredients for one recipe.

A workplace can have good people and still be a place you eventually leave. When you imagine a career move, what is hardest to weigh: the work itself, the relationships, the routine, or the chance to learn something new?

When an interviewer asks about salary expectations, would you rather name your range, ask for theirs, or learn more about the role first? Which would make the conversation feel more straightforward?

I would start with four headings: money coming in, fixed bills, everyday spending, and money set aside. A sheet with fifty categories might be precise, but I suspect I would stop opening it. What would make a budget easy enough to use every week?
